Wait for an echo...

"I would hurl words
into this darkness
and wait for an echo,
 and if an echo sounded,
no matter how faintly,
I would send other words
to tell, to march, to fight,
to create a sense of hunger for life
that gnaws in us all."

~ Richard Wright

I really like this description of writing -- hurling words into the darkness and waiting for an echo....

  1. That is a great image! I came to visit because Teaching Authors had a link to your blog. Perhaps you would like to join Poetry Friday? It's being hosted by A Teaching Life today: http://tmsteach.blogspot.com/2013/02/poetry-friday-round-up-is-here.html

  2. Thank you, Tabatha! I may join Poetry Friday sometime soon ~ I do always enjoy reading the links each week. :)
